Sea Wok Chinese Restaurant One of the best bargains in town and one that you won't want to miss is the new Chinese Buffet at the Sea Wok in Brigantine. The Chan family spent a long time researching their new endeavor before reopening in the beginning of January. Although the family has owned the Sea Wok for close to five years, their format is new and they've renovated the restaurant and expanded the facility to include the building next door. The results are fantastic and on the night of our visit, people were entering in droves. I can honestly say that I've never seen so many people in a Chinese restaurant. The buffet is priced at $7.99 and features a tremendous variety of food. There is something for everyone, here. There are over fifty items that change daily with close to thirty of them served at one time. There is no charge for children under three and kids from three to twelve can enjoy the buffet for $3.99. Based on the amount of youngsters in the restaurant, I'd have to say that the Sea Wok is giving McDonald's a run for their money. The buffet includes a salad bar that features lettuce, tomato, cucumber, sour vegetable salad and u-peel shrimp with cocktail sauce - all you can eat. People were piling their plates with shrimp and kept returning for more. There were three choices of soup including Won Ton, Egg Drop and Hot & Sour. If you like poultry, the Sea Wok offers so many interesting varieties that you won't know where to begin. We sampled quite a few of them and they were all delicious. In particular, I liked the General Chicken and Sesame Chicken. Other good choices included Chicken on a Stick, Fried Wings, Sweet & Sour Chicken, Pepper Chicken with Tomatoes, Chicken with Fresh Mushrooms and Hundred Taste Chicken, a special recipe of the Chan family.
There were many fabulous seafood dishes, as well, such as Seafood with Lobster Sauce, Salt & Pepper Shrimp and Green Mussels. Spareribs and Beef & Broccoli were also available in addition to Mixed Chinese Vegetables, Vegetable Lo Mein, Vegetable Egg Foo Young with Gravy and Fresh String Beans. They also served Fried Dumplings, Egg Rolls, Prawn Crackers and various types of rice. The buffet includes dessert with some excellent choices like Fried Bananas, Sweet Buns, Jello, Cake and Fresh Fruit. If you can afford the calories, the Sweet Buns were fantastic. If you are not a buffet person, the Sea Wok still offers their regular menu which is quite extensive. The Chef's Specialties sounded especially appealing with pleasant names such as Happy Family, Rainbow Chicken, Eight Treasure Duck and Four Seasons. The service at the Sea Wok is very professional and each time we went to the buffet we received a clean plate and the old one was wisked away immediately. If you like Chinese food and you've got a hearty appetite, this buffet can't be beat. You can order it for take-out, as well, which is priced at $3.99 per pound. The Sea Wok in Brigantine is a great spot for the entire family, and based on business on the night of our review meal, a lot of people know it. 3628-3632 Brigantine Boulevard, Brigantine 266-7608 fax:266-4903 Open 7 Days for Dinner |
