Pizza! Pizza! We all love pizza which is more than evident given the scores of pizza parlors in our area. It seems that each one develops its own special niche and Casino Pizza & Subs is no exception. In addition to Italian specialties, Casino offers a good selection of Spanish cuisine at very reasonable prices. Owner Tony Rosario is no stranger to the restaurant business. His family owned a deli in New York and he eventually owned his own deli before moving to Atlantic City three years ago. His dream is to open a Spanish night club in Atlantic City.

My dining partner and I had an easy time deciding what to eat because the Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad ($5.95) came highly recommended by friends who frequent the restaurant on a regular basis. Indeed, it lived up to its reputation. The romaine was fresh and well chilled, the dressing delicious and the whole affair was topped with a still warm freshly grilled chicken breast that was seasoned perfectly and cut into bite size pieces. Sprinkled with toasty croutons, this was a wonderful first course. It was served with an order of garlic bread that was also very good. Other salads included Garden, Chef's, Tuna and Antipasto.

Our second selection took some careful deliberation but we finally opted for a gourmet pizza and it was sensational. We chose a small Florentine Pizza ($7.50) that was topped with eggplant, spinach, crushed fresh tomatoes, garlic and mozzarella and ricotta cheese. Other gourmet versions included Shrimp Scampi, Clams Casino, Hawaiian and Mexican which featured salsa, cheddar cheese, mushrooms, onions, tomatoes and black olives. There are regular pizzas, too, with a good variety of toppings.

The menu also offers a good selection of pasta platters which include salad and bread. You'll find a variety of spaghetti dishes along with ravioli, lasagna, ziti and eggplant, veal and chicken parmesan. The prices range from $5.00 to $7.00 which is more than reasonable. There are a host of Spanish platters, as well, priced from $3.00 to $9.00, including pork, beef and steak specialties.

The sandwich menu is complete with a wide range of favorites: burgers, hot and cold subs, clubs, B.L.T.'s, deli specials and gyros. You can also enjoy calzones, stromboli and panzarotti.

Other American favorites included Breaded Jumbo Shrimp ($7.95), 4 Piece Chicken ($6.50), Chicken Fingers ($5.95) and Buffalo Wings served with bleu cheese and celery ($5.45). They also feature a good selection of side orders such as curly fries, onion rings and mozzarella sticks, to name just a few. For dessert they serve rice pudding, cheese cake and flan.

Casino Pizza & Subs is located on Ventnor Avenue in Atlantic City, right next to the Brittany Cafe. They seat sixteen people and do a big take-out and delivery business, as well. Casino makes great pizza and they're open seven days a week for your convenience.
