jayblack.jpg (13416 bytes)

It was in the early 1960's when Brooklyn-raised Jay Black was asked to become the lead singer of a group that was to dominate the record charts for years to come. His distinctive and resonant voice has been the foundation for such smash hits as "Cara Mia," "Some Enchanted Evening," "This Magic Moment," "Walkin' In The Rain," "Sunday and Me," (Neil Diamond's first hit as a song writer) and "Only In American." In 1964, Jay Black and the Americans recorded their biggest hit, "Come A Little Bit Closer," which had been written by the legendary songwriting duo of Tommy Boyce and Bobby Heart. The song's brilliance took it to Number Three on the charts and solidified the group's reputation as a hit-producing machine.

Nostalgia, excitement and good times will rock Harrah's Broadway By The Bay Theatre when Jay Black & the Americans perform April 27-May 2. Showtimes are 7pm on Tues., Wed., Thurs. & Sun.; 8pm on Fri.[ and 7pm & 10pm on Sat. Tickets are $30.
